Searching Eva (2019) by Pia Hellenthal. The central subject of Director Pia Hellenthal’s documentary film Searching Eva is Eva Collé, a twenty-something poet, musician, blogger, model, and sex worker. The film is an honest and unflinching examination of Eva’s life and world-view and will likely make many people uncomfortable. Featuring somewhat graphic sequences of sex and sexuality, drug use, and harrowing journal entries concerning Eva’s upbringing, the documentary presents a warts-and-all snapshot of the unconventional life of this young woman (In The Seats). Mowa ptaków aka Bird Talk (2019). The script was written by Andrzej Zulawski and is his most contemporary story. It’s about Poles and Poland and is concerned with what is happening here and now. It tells the story of brothers, couples and friends, all trying to find a place in contemporary Warsaw. Intellectuals, teachers, musicians and painters, all barely making ends meet, but nevertheless intent on improving their country.  The author was unable to make the film, but before his death he passed the script to his son, Xawery Zulawski. Those Who Work (2019) by Antoine Russbach. A compellingly social, and broodingly existential, look at unemployment. Belgian actor Olivier Gourmet (‘Rosetta’) plays a lifelong workaholic who suddenly finds himself out of a job in Swiss director Antoine Russbach’s feature debut (The Hollywood Reporter).
